Does Your Greatness Spark the Hidden Winner in People?

Hi!

Do you see your greatness?  Yes; yours!!  If you don’t think of yourself as having greatness; think again.  Because; you do!  So, own it!

Maybe you’re saying, “How can I own what I don’t see in myself?  I’m just being who I am.  Me!”  It’s easy!  First, you need to pray that all self-defeating blinders fade away; so you can see YOU.  Then pray for a new understanding of what greatness encompasses.  Hopefully, you will find you in the midst.

Let’s look at what is; and what isn’t greatness.

A person’s greatness is not defined by large bank accounts; notoriety; college degrees; or lucrative businesses.  Nor is it isolated to the size of one’s home; number of social media likes; brands on their wardrobe; or cost of cars.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  You may experience major feats, or have a lot of things.  Yet they are results of greatness.  Because; if you limit greatness to accomplishments and stuff; if what you do, ceases; or your possessions decline; you’ll feel like a complete failure.  Greatness is so much more.

Think about it. People may do something great; yet they have an obnoxious demeanor.  That’s not great; they just do great things.  People may own massive amounts of stuff; yet they’re arrogant and disgusting.  That’s not being great; they just own a great amount of things.

So what really defines greatness?

It’s what God has placed IN YOU. The gifts, talents, and proclivities, God has placed in you; define your greatness.  Your caring spirit; loving demeanor; ability to defuse turmoil; intelligence; natural influence; obedience, love and trust in God; and spirit of excellence are attributes of greatness.  It’s up to you to embrace your truth; and walk in greatness.

How do you recognize greatness in you?

There are so many ways.  Sometimes, others see in you what you don’t see in yourself.  Think about the scripture: “A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.”  (Proverbs‬ ‭18:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

What gifts are in you; placing you in the sight, heart and mind of great people?

Have you received calls to use your skills, from persons you consider as accomplished?  They’ve seen greatness in what you consider as ordinary; and they want your services.  I’ve had many people contact me to use my God-given gifts to help them; and it was truly an honor.  If you haven’t experienced it; believe.  It can happen for you.  My friend, God illuminates your gifts.  Your gifts’ brightness, triggers both positive and negative reactions.

Has anyone ever contacted you to help them develop a workshop or presentation?  They’ve seen your work; and need pointers?  Maybe you were contacted by someone who has an upcoming event; and they need an excellent planner and caterer.  Those are positive reactions from your greatness.

However, have you ever been accused of insulting people; and all you did was express your thoughts on a subject?  Has anyone become angry when you walked into a meeting?  Has a fellow leader on your job; or in ministry ever tried to make your accomplishments and opinions seem frivolous to others?  Has your presence ever intimidated people?  Do you wonder why?  It’s greatness in you.

Don’t allow attacks to sway you to quit.  If you experience envy from people without a cause; never, ever become haughty or despondent.  Pray!  Pray for those who react to you negatively.  Pray for you to love past faults.  Maybe, they see greatness in you; and pride attacks them.  You never want to respond with negativity; or develop bitterness.  Their hidden winner needs to come forth too.

I heard Bishop TD Jakes say, “Any time exceptional people get around ordinary thinking people, there will always be conflict.  Don’t try to get along with people who think ordinary.  God made you to be exceptional.”   I somewhat agree.  God did make me exceptional.  Yet, I’ve experienced that; you can be exceptional; and simultaneously help those who God tells you to; without arguing or compromising.  Just don’t allow them to hold you back.

…Mark Twain wrote, “Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.  Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”  You; who are great; are vessels; to help others become great.

How does your greatness spark the hidden winner in others?

Everyone won’t scramble away because of your God-given gifts and talents.  Some people have untapped greatness lying dormant in them; and they’re waiting on YOU.  Let God use you as a conduit filled with incentive to make what’s in them leap.

People see your organizational skills, wisdom, humble ways, well-kept appearance, intellect, grind, creativity, entrepreneurial inclinations, ingratiating personality; sense of humor, and superb communication skills.  They see your study ethics; your parenting skills; and how you handle major losses.  They see you helping as many as you can; in whatever ways you can.  They see your ability to convince unengaged people to get involved.  They see your heart to bless people in your work, teaching, preaching, and singing.  People see your ability to persuade others to move from thoughts of failure into moments of productivity.

Do you see yourself in any of the above?  If not, it’s time.  It’s not conceit or being self-centered to see what God has placed in you.

What you have my friend, is greatness in you!

When you embrace your greatness; be great!  Remember; it’s through Christ that you can do all things (cf Phil 4:13).  Get busy!  Go do it!!  Also keep in mind what Jesus said to His disciples: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John‬ ‭14:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬.

Override all negative reactions with love; and the knowledge that greatness is in you.  Speak to those with negative and positive responses with authoritative humility.  Draw those who see you as an example; AND those who you frustrate, with love.  Remember your greatness has sparked the hidden winner in both groups.

Even though it doesn’t always feel good to walk in God’s assignment of greatness; it’s totally rewarding.  It’s a blessing for God to choose you and mold you to walk where He wants you to.  It’s also a blessing to see how God works through you to help others win.

Thank you for joining me today!  I’ll leave you with:  “Does your greatness spark the hidden winner in people?”  Think about it.   We’ll talk soon!

Blessings!
