Are You Prepared To Be Introduced To The Best You?

Hi!

Are you open to seeing yourself as a stranger to yourself?  Most of us would answer this question with, “What?  I know me!  I’m acquainted with every aspect of me!”  But, are you?

Do you really know all of you, or your best you?  If so, is it safe to say that you will never get better; because you have plateaued?  I think not.

Here is a challenge.  If you know the best you, say what it is to yourself.  Now, think about it.  Is what you just named as your best you, really your best you?  Or, is there more to you that have not yet been revealed to you?

Let’s turn a corner.  Bring your knowledge of your best you with you.  Here are two more questions.  Is your best you so unfamiliar until it frightens you to step into that space?  Are you excited about the possibility of your best you coming to and through you?

No, yes!  No, no! Or is it Yes, YES!  Does the two aforementioned questions bring a sense of anticipation to the forefront of your internal computer?   Does the thought of you tapping into your best you evoke a sense of ‘endless possibilities?’

The potential of discovering your best you emits mixtures of excitement and frustration.

Introductions often bring butterflies with them.  These occurrences might be joyous, or frustrating.  It depends on your personality type.  Extroverts usually meet no strangers.  But, those of us who are shy and introverted are usually uncomfortable with introductions.  Which one are you?

It also depends on who is on the other side of the impending introduction.  Circumstances may cause anyone to not look forward to meeting new people.  Many of us; extroverts and introverts alike, may cringe at times, at the thought of introductions.

The person you are to meet may be a job or audition interviewer.  The person might be a professor with a history of being difficult, a blind date, a crush, a celebrity, or a great pontificator of the gospel.  Whoever it is; the thought of the unknown happening carries anxiety.

The same holds true when being introduced to a different aspect of ourselves.

Getting to know one’s self is not always smooth sailing.  Think about it, doesn’t the thought of there being more to you and for you stir up something in you?  What is that ‘something?’  It is the anticipation of meeting the untapped part of you that you have not met yet?

But, what causes apprehension?  Is it the success driven part of you that you have avoided since you were a child.

Perhaps you are afraid of the opinions of people.  Maybe you fear discovering a side of you to yourself that you may not like.  If it is unlikable, good or better; don’t you want to know more about you?

Are you ready to uncover the unknown aspects of ‘You?’  Yes?  So, before you place this topic in your file labeled ‘non-applicable;’ take a short walk with me.  Let us delve a little deeper into some of the questions mentioned earlier.

Do you already know the best you?

I venture to say, “No!”  Now don’t get angry.  I know, I don’t know you.  Yet, I am certain that you have yet to discover the best you.  It does not matter how seasoned or young you are.  Your financial, career, or educational levels do not matter. There is always room for new discoveries.

That is why you should never settle for the mindset of thinking there is no more to you.  You have ‘best’ in you.  Your ‘best’ may be something you have not even thought about, YET.

My friend, you and I must stay open to receive.  How?

  • Pray and read the Word of God.  The Holy Scriptures cut through the stuck places in us, and help us stir up the gifts God has given to us.
  • When you are open to learn from others, speak the thought into your phone; or write down nuggets gleaned in conversations.  Take notes while listening to the preached Word; reading the Bible, and when reading books.
  • Expand your way of thinking.  Tear down walls set up in your thought process.  I recently read an article that quoted Claudia Rankin, a professor at Yale University as saying, “Bias is baked in, and to see it we need a new way of thinking.”  Though the article was speaking of bias in the arts; the quote speaks loudly on how we think.
  • Internalize one of Les Brown’s famous quotes, “There is greatness in you that the world needs!”  Examine yourself, and receive the greatness in you that God reveals to you.

Is the best you so unfamiliar until you dare not attempt to step into that space?

Sometimes as we arrive near the brink of discovering wonderful, new aspects about ourselves, we turn back.  Why?  Is it the success driven part of us that has frightened us since we were children?  Some of us have listened to the voice of defeat for too long.  It is time to kick That longtime progress killer to the curb.

How do you prepare for the introduction of your best you to you?

Believe that now is the time for discovery.  Accept how God has made you.  For instance, I love to read, to introduce Christ Jesus to unbelievers, to help believers grow, and to help others discover their best selves.  The other day, as I read over something I was helping someone put together, I had an  epiphany.  Helping others sharpen their projects, ministries, careers, and aspirations is a part of my best me.  I said to me, “Hello!  It’s nice to meet you!”  I heard, “There is more to come!” That, “Ah ha,” moment caused me to increase my time of prayer, and pray for The Lord to help me be more attentive to His voice.  Praise God!

My friend, are you prepared to be introduced to your best you?  I pray you step into that path.

One of the scriptures in my heart today is:  “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”  Psalms‬ ‭139:14‬ ‭KJV‬

Thank you for joining me today.  We will talk soon!

Blessings!
