What Is In You That Will Benefit the World?

Hi!

How many times have you heard the familiar question, “Where have you been all of my life? Maybe someone referred to you as a, “Best kept secret!” Even if you have or have not been the recipient of either of those queries, there remains another question. What is the reason for such assessments?

But, wait a minute! Before we delve into the topic of today’s post, let us make sure we are on the same page. The thought behind the first question in the previous paragraph is not limited to compliments from love interests. It is more than attraction talk.

Probable  scenarios…..

Perhaps you are a ghostwriter, a copywriter, or you write your own literary works under a pen name. Maybe you coach from behind the scenes; or you write letters, speeches, or papers for others. Much of your work, business or ministry involves someone else getting the accolades for the work you do.

How does that make you feel? Do any of these examples leave you feeling less than, or like a nobody? If so, why? Could it be that recognition overrides helping the intended audiences?

It does for many! But, is that so bad?

Things done with the wrong motives have the propensity to help targeted recipients. So, let us not be so hard on people who do what they do to feed their egos. We should pray for those types of attention seekers; even if it applies to us, and be happy for the beneficiaries.

Wow! That last paragraph made me think of Matthew‬ ‭7:3-5‬ ‭NRSV‬‬. It says, “Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.”

Do you watch others from afar? Do you sit on a seat of harsh critique of what others do? Maybe you should dig deeper into the cause. Think about it!

Are you the one who is afraid to publish that book, start an online course, produce an informational manual, record that song, write that blog, open that construction business, or launch that clothing line? Why? Sometimes we are our own worst critics. We hold back, for fear, lack of confidence in ourselves and God. Some of us undermine the knowledge and abilities God has gifted us with, and label them as not good enough.

Who told you that nonsense?

Who put it in your mind that your sample podcasts, writings, music, lessons, books, graphics, clothing designs or pure talent in whatever fields are not wanted by people. My friend, if God gave you gifts and talents, they were not given to you to file them away. Nor did God bless you with them so you would share them with just yourself or your immediate circle. The world needs what you have.

Listen to Jonathan McReynold’s song, “People.” An interesting prayer in his song says, “Far from the peaceful shore I was sinking. Deep in the ocean of thoughts they were thinking. Don’t know what validation I was seeking. Deliver me from people, people…”

My friend, don’t let people’s opinions stop you. Come on out of your cocoon, and expose the world to YOU!  Just like there is a beautiful butterfly  inside a cocoon that will come out and pollinate many different types of flowering plants; there is something in YOU that will benefit the world.

What is it that needs to take on feet and walk into exposure?

Is it your obsession with making new delectable dishes? Share your recipes in a book, blog, vlog or online food magazine or cooking show. There are many people who need to learn how to cook, or who are looking for new delectable dishes to try.

Do you have ten or more notebooks or piles of paper with unfinished writings? Organize those nuggets of enlightenment, put them into book form, find a trusted editor and put your works in print or audiobooks.  How-to books and videos are major eye and ear catchers.

Are you spending time each day writing and recording songs that are piling up on your phone? Find friends or family members who you can collaborate with, record yourself and upload your catchy song on ITunes, or on any Social Media platform. Your voice, or your intensive, uninhibited, relevant, heartfelt lyrics will capture the hearts of those who are looking for realness.

Perhaps you have a subject you have spent years researching about, and every chance you get, you talk about it. Move past your audience of just family and friends. Place your research into subcategories, develop podcast or webinar series titles, write a schedule, and explore the internet on how to make webinars and podcasts. Pray to God about who to bring on board. Without divulging your entire plan, ask your trusted friends or family members if they have knowledge in developing podcasts and webinars. Fight the warfare that comes to discourage you, and step out on faith.

Remember, what you put out there is to benefit others!

Think about it! There are over 7.8 billion people on earth. You, my friend, can touch 1, 2, 7, 50, 600, 3000, 1 million or more. The amount of people you reach is not the goal. Somebody WILL BENEFIT from what is in YOU!

Thank you for spending time with me. My question to you again is, “What is in you that will benefit the world?” I look forward to talking with you next week.

Blessings!
